I am still smiling . . . about our mission trip to Nicaragua. We had 15 from our church join the Way of the Cross Ministries and it was an exciting adventure. We had folks who did dental, medical, construction and children’s evangelism. The people there are very gracious and loving. They were very responsive to the gospel. The gospel message was shared well over 2000 times and many decisions were made for Christ. Our group came back pumped up and ready to go again next year. You have heard and will be hearing from the group over the next few days. We are planning to take a group again next January 9-15. Be praying about how you will be involved in missions this year.
And speaking of mission trips . . . we are planning a “youth/adult trip” to Gallup New Mexico at the end of May. This will be our third trip to Gallup to do mission work on the reservation with the Native Americans. This will be a “world changer” type of trip. We will be doing construction and working with children in VBS. The dates for the trip are May 26-June 2. Sign up will begin in the next few weeks so watch for more information. Contact Nick or Steve for more details.
We have some “big” events . . . planned for February.
(1) Super Bowl parties are on Sunday, Feb. 5. We will have an afternoon worship service at 4:00 p.m. and then many of our Bible Study groups are planning parties about 5:15 p.m. This can be a great opportunity for both fellowship and outreach.
(2) Movie Night is Sunday, Feb. 12 at 4:00 p.m. We will be showing the movie “Courageous” and it will be free. Invite a friend to join you for the movie, popcorn and soft drinks.
(3) Men’s Wild Game Night is Saturday, Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m. This annual event is sponsored by our Men’s ministry. There will be lots of good food, fellowship and many free gifts. Dr. Chuck Halford will be our speaker. I am looking forward to this time together.
(3) The Silent Auction and dinner will be held this year on Sunday, Feb. 26. All the proceeds go to support our youth ministry. Contact Linda Reed for more details.
Looking for more opportunities for Bible Study and fellowship? I want to remind you that if you have not joined us on Wednesday night or on Sunday night for Bible Study, you are missing opportunities for both. We are studying through the book of Genesis on Wednesday nights. We are studying about worship on Sunday nights and will soon be entering a series on the Psalms. Both times offer a meal (we are Baptists) and plenty of time to meet new people and build strong relationships. One of the best ways to grow in your faith is to gather with fellow believers and learn together.
