I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 18, 1958. I am the second oldest of seven sons born to
Bill and Carol McPherson. My father was in the Navy for twenty-two years and during that time, we
lived throughout the United States. Memphis became home in 1974.
I accepted Christ at age 12, while attending a Catholic Church in South Carolina. While attending
Berclair Baptist Church in 1979, I felt God call me to make my salvation decision public and I was
baptized at that time.
After graduating from Raleigh Egypt High School in Memphis, I attended Memphis State University
for two years majoring in Business Administration. During the next twenty-seven years, my secular
career focused on business management. I worked seventeen years with Century Management, three
years with John Hancock, and seven years with Randstad.
In August of 2000, while on a mission trip, I felt God calling me into the ministry. In May of 2003, I retired
from secular business to pursue God’s calling. In July of 2004, I became the Food Service Director at Bartlett
Hills Baptist Church. In December of 2004, the church asked me to be the Interim Administrator and in
May of 2005, I accepted the position full-time.
Teresa and I were married in 1980, and we have two great sons, Christopher and Matthew. I enjoy golf,
tennis, triathlons, cooking, mission trips, reading, and fixing things.

Nick Daniel,
Minister To Students
I was born in Memphis, TN in August of 1978. My family moved to Bartlett when I was about 7 years
old and soon became involved in a local Baptist church. I attended Altruria Elementary and Shadowlawn
Middle, and graduated from Bartlett High in 1996. My family remained faithful to the Lord and the local
church throughout my childhood, and during my senior year of high school I accepted Christ as my Savior.
After high school, and a few years of searching for the Lord’s plan, I enrolled in the University of Memphis
and graduated with a History degree in 2003. I felt a call to ministry at a very young age, and my desire to
serve was nurtured by both my family and my church.
While I was in college, I began serving on the leadership team of a college-age Bible study. It was
in that small Bible study that God made my call to ministry clear, and I began seminary at Mid-America
Baptist Theological as soon as I graduated from Memphis. I met my wife Erica through some friends from
the Bible study, and we married two years later in May of 2004. Our ministry began at my home church,
where I served as a Youth Ministry Intern and then Associate Pastor. I graduated from MABTS in 2007
with a Master’s of Divinity.
Erica and I accepted a Youth Ministry position at a Baptist church in Tipton County in 2004, and
served there for about six years before accepting the call to Bartlett Hills in 2010. We have two children:
our son Brooks was born in 2008, and our daughter Magevney was born in 2010. We are very excited
about the opportunity to serve at this great church and can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for
us at Bartlett Hills.
Kathy Hogel, Minister To Children
and Sports Coordinator
My family is from the Chicago land area of Illinois. But while my father was stationed in Norfolk, VA, I
was born. We lived in VA until I was 2 years old and then returned to Joliet, IL. I have two younger brothers.
My parents were active members of Faith Bible Church and we were raised working in the church.
I came to know Christ as my personal Savior at the age of four. My father walked me through the
simple gospel plan and with the faith of a child, I started my journey as God's daughter. Even as a young
child, I always felt that God was calling me to serve Him in ministry.
I attended Moody Bible Institute and Marantha Baptist Bible College with my major in Christian Education.
I attended school for three plus years but never finished my degree. I met Steve Hogel at a church I was visiting
and we were married a year later. His job immediately transferred out of state. The transferring did not stop there.
In the first four years of our married lives, we lived in five states (AZ, CO, OR, WA, FL.) It was great to see the
country and discover the regional differences of American culture
Two years into our marriage, we began to have children and six years later we had four little Hogels to
care for – Cory, Riley, Brooklyn and Caleb. I stayed home with the three oldest children through the preschool
years. Although the majority of my time went to my children, I was still involved in teaching and working with
local children either in 5-Day Clubs (CEF) or our church home.
We moved to Bartlett, TN in May of 2003 and became members of BHBC about a year later. In
January of 2008, I accepted a position of part-time Children's Minister at BHBC. When you do not have family
in town, your church literally becomes your family. Bartlett Hills has been a family to us and we love to serve
the church body for Christ.
