We are getting ready . . . for Victory Day. It is only a few weeks until our annual homecoming event – Sunday, Sept. 19. There have been volunteers working outside and inside to clean up and freshen up our facility. The parking lot is being resealed and restriped and it should be ready by this Sunday. Plans are being made to start the new pavilion and we are still hoping to have at least the foundation put in and in use on Victory Day. I appreciate all those who have spent time “caring for the Lord’s House.” I especially thank Steve McPherson who works so diligently to organize the maintenance and upkeep on our building and grounds.

What is . . . Victory Day? It is the third Sunday in September each year. It is a day of special music and worship. It is our homecoming Sunday with a free barbeque lunch with all the fixings. (The church provides the barbeque, the bread and the drinks. We ask each member family to bring side dishes and desserts for the meal.) It is a day of good eating, lots of fellowship and a chance to “reminisce about the good old days when we sat on the back of pick-up trucks to eat after the men cooked the meat on the grill all night long.” It is a day of celebration to God for all His blessings on this great church. Our offering that day reflects our hearts of thanksgiving. It is a time of recommitment to TWG and paying down the debt on our current facility. It is a day you don’t want to miss!

Continue to pray for Jacob and Nikki . . . as they move into new areas of ministry. Jacob is committed to helping with a new church start that has its first Sunday open to the public on Sept. 19. They have been meeting and making plans to reach the community for Jesus. Pray that God will use their gifts to help build a great church there. Pray for our church as we begin the process of looking for a new Youth Minister. I will be meeting with all the youth and parents of youth on Sunday, Sept. 12, to talk about that process. We will meet for about 30 minutes in the Youth Room at 11:00 a.m. (during the second Bible Study).

Congratulations to Gwen Blair and So Chhim . . . for winning the “Taste of Bartlett Hills” contest.  The coordinators of the Arts and Craft Fair (Oct. 15-16) were looking for a new food item to serve this year. The food item had to be (1) unique and tasty (2) simple to prepare (3) easy to reproduce in quantity and (4) able to be sold at a reasonable price. Gwen prepared “spicy cheese-its” and So prepared “So wraps.” You will want to taste them for yourself at the Arts and Crafts Fair this year.

This Sunday . . . is a holiday week-end. I already know that a lot of people will be traveling this week-end. It is the official “last week-end of the summer.” We will meet Sunday morning with our regular schedule, but will not have activities Sunday evening. Come and join us as we worship and praise God together.
